GGLT Day 1/2

The day started early with a goal of being on the road at noon. Emily told everyone to be ready to go at 10:00. (We just say an earlier time in hopes that Mark is ready to go when we truly are.) I managed to roll Mark out of bed at 8:00 to start his packing…he was right on Goulding Time…doing it at the last minute.  Kaci came over and got the ‘Goulding instructions for house sitting’.  And, woohoo, we were leaving home at 11!

We picked up mom, stopped at Wal-Mart (but didn’t go in), went to Subway, bank, gas station and got ‘free’ Blizzards at DQ. BTW - free Blizzards cost $18 nowadays. THEN Mark remembers that he didn’t pack his GGLT t-shirts. So, at 12:20 we were leaving home a second time. Only the Goulding’s can travel over an hour and not get more than six miles from home! We did find out in our two hour drive to Glasgow that Molly can’t say cautious, precious or shnazzy. Everyone (except Mark) took the time for a little snooze.)

Our first out-of-town stop was at my Aunt Sis’ house in the rolling hills of Glasgow, MO.

We so LOVE her cause she is such a kick in the pants! She is the matriarch of the Schaefer family now and leads us well! Frankie enjoyed his visit with her too.

After the short stop at Aunt Sis’, the family loaded in the van and headed to the family reunion. The food was plentiful and excellent - the Niemeiers sure can cook! Mark and I got to have a good visit with Laura and Kirk and other family that we haven’t seen in several years.

When the dancing started, the Gouldings were on the dance floor for about every song.  Molly, Abby and Emily were two-stepping like country girls. When the Cotton-eyed Joe started, cuz Paula grabbed them to hit the dance floor.

We closed out the night at midnight with the girls sleeping on Aunt Sis’ floor just like old times.
